As the relaxed rules for what we hope is a post-Covid existence roll out, I am mindful of how much everything has changed for so many families, businesses and individuals. I was in denial as the winter of 2020 unfolded. Come on! How bad is this really going to be? Eventually, in March 2020, when @ingatalk told me in her serious voice to pack my plants and plan to be away from my office until the following September, the magnitude of impending change came home to roost. The prospect of six months in my home office with my ferns brought it home to me in a way that endless hours of alerts from @cp24breakingnews and @newstalk1010 could not. I gathered my plants, a bunch of files, my favourite orange highlighter and felt satisfied we could implement a near-perfect virtual system. I relied on @cpi_networks to figure out my remote service strategy. They spent hours patiently telling me how to set up the home office with team meetings, a bigger screen, a high-power scanner and updated internet. My amazing law clerks worked together seamlessly to keep us running smoothly. No one lost their sense of humour and the team worked hard to ensure clients’ needs were met. All of this effort served to set up a business that can function pretty much anywhere. We transformed into a stronger, more resilient Mediation and Collaborative Family Law practice.
Setting up virtual meetings for combinations of clients, lawyers, mediators, arbitrators, mental health professionals and financial professionals, no matter where they are located, is now easy and convenient. We remain ready to serve our family law and mediation clients.
What was your transformation like? What are you doing now that you never thought possible?
